Care and Cleaning
Bleach and chlorides are found in almost all cleaning solutions but, if left on your stainless steel sink for long periods can be damaging. However, they are water soluble if you rinse away thoroughly after each use. A weekly clean with a stainless steel cleaner is all that is needed to keep your sink bright and shiny.
Unlike granite and ceramic sinks, stainless steel sinks are not scratch resistant. Like most metallic finishes, it will accrue scratches over time. These are simply usage marks and are completely normal. Over time these will blend into the overall finish of the sink.
The quality of your water can affect the appearance of your sink. Water with a high iron content can leave brown, rust-like staining on the sink. Remove mineral deposits and limescale by soaking in a solution of 3 parts hot water to 1 part white vinegar. Always rinse with clean water afterwards and dry with a soft cloth to prevent further limescale build-up.
It's not advisable to use plastic washing up bowls in your stainless steel sink as they tend to pick up grit particles on the bottom which can act like sandpaper leaving an area of concentrated scratches. Try using a rubber-bottomed wire basket instead. These are available with most models of Clearwater stainless steel sink.
